TOBY THE TANGERINE ~ PHILOSOPHY.
People often say to me, Toby you've lived such a long and fruitful life, what is the secret, share with us what you have learnt over the years.
So listed below are a few carefully chosen thoughts which may help you through the complex web of life.
Enjoy, but remember as Nathaniel Hawthorne once said,
"Happiness is a butterfly, which, when pursued, is always just beyond your grasp, but which, if you will sit down quietly, may alight upon you."
Or, to put it another way
"A table, a chair, a bowl of fruit and a violin; what else does a man need to be happy?" Albert Einstein,
yes, it may have been better if you stuck to the theoretical physics and the development of the general theory of relativity, no offence Albert.
- Do not walk behind me, for I may not lead. Do not walk ahead of me, for I may not follow. Do not walk beside me either, just leave me alone, stop hassling me.
- Do not aspire to become irreplaceable, if you become irreplaceable, you will never be promoted.
- Never forget that you are unique, like everybody else.
- If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything.
- Before you judge someone, you should try walking a mile in their shoes. Then when you do judge them, you are a mile away from them and you have their shoes.
- Never assume, it will make an ass out of u and me.
- If at first you don't succeed, avoid bungee jumping.
- Never test the depth of the water with both feet.
- Good judgement comes from experience, experience comes from bad judgement.
- A closed mouth gathers no feet.
- Generally speaking, you won't learn much if your lips are moving.
- Experience is something you don't get until just after you need it.
- A day without laughter, is a wasted day.
- If you always do, what you have always done. You will always get, what you always got.
